Fake Name Generator
Generate random names by locale and gender — seeded, reproducible, entirely on this device.
These names are randomly assembled for testing and design — any match to a real person is coincidence.

Do it offline:$ node -e "const {fakerEN}=require('@faker-js/faker');console.log(fakerEN.person.fullName())"
How to use it
- Choose a locale — English, German, Japanese, Arabic, and eleven more — and a gender: any, female, or male. The locale sets the name pool and the script; gender picks which of the locale's two name lists to draw from.
- Set the count, from a single name up to 1,000; a value outside the printed range is refused, not clamped.
- Press Generate, or ⌘/Ctrl + Enter, for a fresh batch. Each press mints a new seed; raising the count extends the list rather than reshuffling it.
- Copy one name, copy the whole list, or download a .txt (one full name per line) or a .csv of first name, last name, and full name.
- Use Share to fold the locale, gender, count, and seed into a link; opening it anywhere rebuilds the identical list.
Need believable placeholder people for a mockup, a test fixture, or a seeded database? Pick a locale and a gender, set how many you want — one name or a thousand — and the list appears in your browser. Fifteen languages are on offer, so a German form gets German names and a Japanese screen gets Japanese ones. Every run is seeded, so a shared link rebuilds the same list. Nothing you generate is uploaded.
How it works
Each locale carries its own banks of first names, last names, and — where the culture uses them — titles, all from Faker's fictional data. German draws German banks; Japanese draws Japanese banks and writes the family name first, in kana and kanji.
A single seeded number generator decides every draw: each row's gender when you chose any, the first and last name, and any title. Because the seed fully determines the batch, the same locale, gender, count, and seed rebuild the same names, and Share carries that seed.
Growing the count never reshuffles earlier rows — row twenty is the same in a fifty-name and a thousand-name batch under one seed — because each row takes a fixed slice of the stream. Rows draw independently, so a large batch can repeat a name.
Examples
locale = English (US) · gender = any · count = 3 · seed = 305419896Maybelle Goodwin
Alta Feeney
Adaline Braun-BayerWith gender set to any, the engine rolls a gender per row — here male, female, female — and matches each title: Mr., Mrs., Ms.
locale = Russian · gender = any · count = 2 · seed = 99Анисимов Лев Ерофеевич
Авдеева Алевтина РомановнаRussian names arrive surname-first with a patronymic, so a full name here is three words, not two. Faker ships no honorific data for Russian, so the title and suffix fields stay blank.
locale = Japanese · gender = female · count = 1 · seed = 7相馬 美桜One female Japanese name, family-name-first in native script. A count of 1 is an ordinary request, and the characters survive copy and download unchanged as UTF-8.
Every example on this page is executed against the same engine that powers the tool, on every build.
Gotchas worth knowing
These are not real people
These names are randomly assembled for testing and design — any match to a real person is coincidence. Use them as filler for demos and fixtures, never as a verified identity.
Native scripts stay native
Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Russian, and Arabic render in their own script; the page chrome stays left-to-right while Arabic names read right-to-left. Copy and download keep the exact code points as UTF-8.
A full name is not always two words
Some draws prepend a title — a German row can read Dr. Evelyn Strogies — and some locales add a patronymic. When you need the parts, use the .csv's separate first-name and last-name columns.
Some locales carry no titles
Russian, Chinese, and Italian lack some honorific data in Faker, so their title or suffix fields come back blank rather than borrowing an English Mr. or Jr. A blank affix is correct here, not an error.
Same seed, same names — within one Faker version
A locale, gender, count, and seed reproduce byte-for-byte only while the tool runs Faker 10.5.0; a data update would reshuffle the stream. Pin the whole Share link when a fixture must survive.
Common errors
Count must be a whole number of at least 1.- Zero, negative, and fractional counts are refused with your other settings untouched. The check also runs on a restored Share link, validated like any untrusted value.
Names are capped at 1,000 per run in this browser tool — need more, run: node -e "const {fakerEN}=require('@faker-js/faker');for(let i=0;i<2000;i++)console.log(fakerEN.person.fullName())"- One thousand names still render instantly, which is where the cap sits; ask for 1,001 and the refusal names a Node one-liner that loops Faker for the bigger job.
Unknown locale "sv". Supported locales: en, en_GB, es, fr, de, it, pt_BR, nl, ru, ja, zh_CN, ko, tr, pl, ar.- The dropdown offers fifteen curated locales; a link naming one outside the set — Swedish here — is refused with the supported ids listed, so a stale link fails loudly.
FAQ
Are these fake names safe to use as real identities?
No — they are fictional, assembled at random for testing, mockups, and demos. Any resemblance to an actual person is coincidence, so treat a generated name as filler, never as a verified identity.
How does the gender setting change the names?
Each locale keeps two name lists, female and male, and the gender control picks which the first names and titles come from. Choose any and the tool rolls a gender per row, then draws a matching name.
Can I generate names for a specific country or language?
Yes — the dropdown offers fifteen, from English and Spanish to Japanese, Korean, and Arabic, each with its own script. There is one page and one dropdown rather than a URL per country, and your locale rides along in the Share link.
